Energy Prices in Chile Threaten the World's Copper Supply

The price of electricity in Chile has jumped from about 3.5 cents per kilowatt-hour to 35 cents per kilowatt-hour in just three years. That's like gasoline spiking from $2 a gallon in 2005 to $20 a gallon today. Partners with Argentina for Natural Gas, forced Chile back to using diesel generators... it's time for wind power at the copper mines.

Specter of food rationing hits US supermarkets

Rice futures hit an all-time high on US commodities markets on Wednesday food prices already suffering from rising demand, drought and diversion of crops to biofuels.Costco and Sam's Club took the almost unheard-of step of limiting the amount of rice they are willing to sell to a single customer.
