Tropical Storm “Gustav” became a hurricane yesterday and its effects hit several parts of Costa Rica, especially Guanacaste. In cantons such as Filadefia, Santa Cruz and Liberia, the rains spread over almost everything on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday night there were partial floods, which were attended by local emergency committees.

Church Preparations for Hurricane Gustav - LDS Newsroom
Local leaders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Haiti and the Dominican Republic are working with disaster-response officials to help residents recover from the devastation left in the wake of then Tropical Storm Gustav. As requested, supplies have been assembled and are being positioned around the perimeter of the storm.
